It was clear that I was a bit different from a young age. My book nerd characteristics showed up then, as I used to ride my bike with training wheels up and down the sidewalk with a book balanced on the handlebars. As I got older, my nerdy obsessions switched to things like Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl.
My abilities to geek out about anything translated to real world things as well, as I found I loved politics when I would argue with my government teacher in high school. I was raised a Christian, but when I got to college, I almost walked away from my faith. I would have if it weren’t for The Point of Grace, a campus ministry church where God connected with me again.
At 20 I got married in that church, at 21 I graduated college with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Writing and then 5 months later had my first kid, Dominic. Now at 24, we have another awesome little boy in our life, Allen. I love traveling and have been to South Korea and Germany, but I’ve currently put down roots in Milwaukee, WI.
Even though I’ve graduated college and am now a stay at home mom, my love for learning hasn’t stopped as I’m constantly pushing myself to learn and explore new things, including cooking, which I’ve begun to teach myself, and homeschooling, which my husband, Nick, and I have decided is the best fit for our family.
If you defined Melissa in a dictionary, you’d see a hodge podge of geekiness, politics, and motherhood.
I’d love for you to follow along with me on my blog journey and I would definitely love for you to comment. I appreciate each and every person who reads and also those who take the time to comment.
I put a lot of time and energy into this blog and it really is a passion and labor of love for me. I don’t really make money from this, though occasionally I get free products to review. If you’d like to show your appreciation and/or support for me, you can send me something off my Amazon wishlists. This is my wishlist and this is our homeschooling/play wishlist for the boys. Please don’t feel pressured to do this in the least bit, it’s just there as an option because I know some people like to support their favorite bloggers.
